Instead of moping in front of Zoom as we all did, in defiance of all the rules imposed by the pandemic, Monsieur H explored a strange, incongruous and yet horribly banal world.

It is about the dazzle of childhood that is at stake, everything is strange and interesting. It is also about the power of photography: once photographed something can very well be trivial and at the same time magical.

We are in full metaphysics, precisely where we did not expect it.

Richard Petit | curator

“My projects are born from the exploration of geographical or intimate territories. They have a documentary dimension and take on the subjective form of photographic essays. I seek to question the fragility of the world, focusing on the human being’s place in his or her environment, but also on the relation between past and present, their confrontation, and the shift from one to the other, without nostalgia.”
