EMERGENCY IN NEPAL

'Syabrubensi, in Nepal, on the border with Tibet, overlooks the Langtang Valley and its magnificent trek, which I hiked with my Indian nephew, Skarma Zangpo. We slept in the eponymous village of Langtang, which was engulfed by a landslide during the 2015 earthquake.

Today, Syabrubensi, among other villages, is completely devastated by the sudden flood of August 26, 2026, caused by the collapse of a glacier, according to what is currently known.

This unprecedented tragedy has plunged Nepal, one of the poorest countries on the planet, into mourning, a country that was only just beginning to recover from the 2015 earthquake.'
